Eastern River Farm: A Regenerative Cut-Flower Farm Rooted in Pittston, Maine

Some flowers are grown to be admired in a garden bed. Others are grown to be cut, arranged, and carried down an aisle. At Eastern River Farm in Pittston, Maine, Jennifer and Scott Joray have been growing the second kind since 2018: heirloom blooms raised in their own fields and arranged in a floral studio just steps away.

From the Field to the Arrangement

Jennifer is the farm’s farmer-florist. Every arrangement she designs begins in Eastern River Farm’s own rows, where the flowers are planted, tended, and cut on the property, often only days before they reach a table or a bouquet. That closeness shows in the finished work: blooms chosen at their peak, in the colors and textures of the season.

Grown with Care for the Land

The Jorays practice regenerative growing, raising their flowers without pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides and planning their fields with the long-term health of the soil in mind. Eastern River Farm is a family-run operation, and the floral studio itself lives in a century-old barn on the farm, a setting that feels as rooted in place as the flowers do.

Wedding and Event Florals, Grown to Order

For weddings and special events, Eastern River Farm offers both full-service and à la carte florals, grown to order for each celebration. Because the palette follows the farm’s seasons, couples work with Jennifer to shape their flowers around what will be at its best on their date. A small number of weddings and gatherings also take place on the farm itself, by appointment.

Workshops and Grower Consulting

The farm opens its gate for seasonal workshops, and the Jorays share what they have learned with other growers through farm consulting for anyone starting or refining a cut-flower operation of their own.
